How it works

Four steps from first call to finished piece.

  1. 01

    Call or write

Tell me briefly what you'd like upholstered. We'll have a quick chat about the options.

  2. 02

    Assessment

Send a photo or drop by the studio. I'll give you an estimate and a delivery time.

  3. 03

    Fabric and materials

You choose fabric from samples by Kvadrat, Gabriel, Romo and others. I advise on durability and style.

  4. 04

    The craft

Your piece comes to the studio. Usually ready in about 3 weeks. You collect — or I deliver in Copenhagen.

About Julie

Materials nerd with a craft certificate and a bachelor's degree.

I'm a materials nerd. I hold a Danish craft certificate (svendebrev) as an upholsterer and a Bachelor of Textile, Design and Communication — eight years of training in total, plus many more years of practical studio work.

My focus is to bring out the lines of a piece through beautiful textiles. Weave, texture and colour are everything — and that's the part of the craft I love.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What does reupholstery cost?

It depends on the piece's size, construction and fabric. Send a photo and short description and I'll give you an estimate. Most jobs land between DKK 1,500 and 12,000.

How long does it take?

Typically about 3 weeks from drop-off to ready. Larger projects can take longer — we agree on that up front.

Do you pick up and deliver in Copenhagen?

Yes, I can usually arrange transport in Copenhagen for a small fee. Call and we'll find a solution.

Do you upholster designer classics like Wegner and Jacobsen?

Yes. I have experience with Wegner (CH24, CH88, the Y-chair), Jacobsen (Series 7, Swan, Egg), Mogensen, Kjærholm, Kaare Klint, Finn Juhl and more.

Which textiles do you work with?

I keep over 100 samples in the studio from Kvadrat, Gabriel, Romo, Dedar and others. I advise on durability, abrasion resistance (Martindale) and style.

Can you reupholster an IKEA cushion?

Yes. Smaller jobs like IKEA cushions, dining-chair seats and headboards — I do those too. No job is too small.

What is Custom Cover?

A hand-sewn rain cover for the cargo bike (typically Christiania) — produced locally in Nørrebro together with sailmaker Siv. Read more on the Custom Cover page.
