Upholsterer Julie Zaken.

I'm a materials nerd. I hold a Danish craft certificate (svendebrev) as an upholsterer and a Bachelor of Textile, Design and Communication — eight years of training in total, plus many more years of practical studio work.

My focus is to bring out a piece's lines through beautiful textiles. Weave, texture and colour are everything — and that's the part of the craft I love.

The studio is at Griffenfeldsgade 28 in inner Nørrebro. I work alone here — I answer the phone, I write the estimate, and I'm the one sitting with the piece. That means you're always speaking to the person whose hands are on the work.

Textiles I work with

Kvadrat, Gabriel, Romo, Dedar and more. Over 100 samples in the studio. I advise on durability (Martindale rating), use, lightfastness and style.
